Certificate of Insurance

Fully insured contractors protect the homeowner from liability

Having an insurance certificate shows that a contractor is valid and professional. Contractors do not need to be insured to perform work. Using a company with

insurance is important in case of negligence, injury, or property damage. If an uninsured

contractor does not pay for the materials used on your job, the property owner becomes

liable for the invoice, regardless of whether or not they have paid the contractor.

State of Michigan Builder's License

A valid license is the first indication that the contractor is qualified to do the job

Michigan does not require a license to do any type of asphalt work. Using a contractor with a license protects the property owner from an incompetent or illegitimate company.
